Trinity is a courageous, compassionate community that provides a safe place for all. Here you will find safe shelter in a daunting world that can be polarized and unwelcoming. People at Trinity offer a place where all people are valued and a variety of opinions are heard. People of all races, sexualities, classes and political parties come together to form a unique family. Trinity also serves as a shelter for those on the margins as we shelter them during Alpha House, Warming and Rotating shelters, as well as hosting Recovery and LGBTQ groups.

Alpha House

For over 25 years, Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) at Alpha House has partnered with the community to shelter and support children and families experiencing homelessness in our community. Twice a year Trinity supports Alpha house by taking a week where our members provide the dinner time meal as well as the supervision for the children during Parenting classes.

Daytime Warming Shelter

The Shelter Association in partnership with MiSSION A2 provide warm places for people to get out of the cold. Weekday warming shelter accommodations are available at local churches during the winter months. Trinity hosts the Warming Shelter for two weeks in December over the holidays. A hot meal is provided each day as well as fellowship among guests.

Recovery Walk

In support of those in recovery and in order to reduce the stigma around recovery, the Washtenaw Recovery Advocacy Project (WRAP) and Home Of New Vision sponsor an Annual Recovery Walk in Ann Arbor. Speakers and displays at the rally preceding the walk, provide a safe space where members of the recovery community can enjoy and engage in an activity with other like-minded individuals. Trinity provides sponsorship the walk and hosts a table at the rally.

Pastoral Care

Providing Spiritual Care in a time of need is a priority for Trinity’s pastor. Life brings about such joys and challenges and God promises to walk alongside each of us. Pastor Krister is available for confidential pastoral care when you need it—both during times of sorrow or struggle and times of joy and excitement. Call the church office or contact the pastors directly to set up an appointment.

Rotating Shelter

Trinity regularly opens its doors for a week of hosting the overflow of homeless men from the Delonis Center in Ann Arbor. Volunteers stay overnight, transport the men locally, and provide healthy food, clothing and friendship as we provide a warm, indoor haven from the winter elements.

A Place of Refuge

Being in a prominent place in the community as well as being on a bus line, Trinity often welcomes travelers into the building who are looking for safe place to rest, a specific need, for coffee, or just a friendly face. Many have walked through our doors strangers and have left as friends. We welcome all on their journey to enter our space for refuge and shelter.

RIC - Pride Festival and Affirming Worship

Ann Arbor Pride (formerly OUTFest), an annual pride celebration hosted by Jim Toy Community Center, offers an array of activities for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and allied communities of the Washtenaw County area. The organizers envision an inclusive community where people of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity are visible and live together in equality, respect and happiness. The weekend is full of entertainment including: amazing vocal performances from local and nationally recognized talent, live music, a variety of drag and burlesque shows, DJ performances, beer & wine garden, kid zone, pride picnic and much more! Trinity hosts a table at the event where people can find support in and an invitation to a church body. Following the weekend, a celebratory affirming worship service is held on Sunday morning.
